Mr. Bill

I have just discovered Mr. Bill the artist, and his you tube channel has quite a few Ableton videos on how to get better, so I am looking forward to the next track where I can incorporate some of these.

First Song

No, this is not the first song I wrote, but it is the first song I have completed since purchasing Ableton. The first song of 2020. I am calling this one finished, as I just am not 100% sure what to do next with this. Thus it is also the first song on a resolution to start finishing things, and not just endlessly tinkering with something, and not really doing much with it.

I learned a lot while working on this track. A lot of the quick shortcuts or keyboard combinations to move through Ableton quicker. Still lots to learn about FX, arranging, producing mixing, etc. The quest continues.............

I originally started this track a few years ago, when I was just tinkering around with the NI Maschine. It is greatly inspired by my good friend and drummer Jon Leavit who I have worked on many theater shows. The line that he inspired originally was the bass line, but I switched an instrument, moved it up a few octaves, and it becomes the melody. There is a delay on the melody, but many of the notes are not the delay, but me programming them in, and then lowering the volume to give the element of a decay.

In the past the Maschine has always been the quick way for me to create a drum part, while I work out the guitar or bass line to a song. This is the first song that I combined Maschine and Ableton, just to see what would happen. (and completed!)

Anyway, here is the first song I am putting out there in many years.
Hope you enjoy.
